Nightmare Catcher

This piece was created in March 2004. Its dimensions are 16 inches by 12 inches. It is made out of various vertebrae from cats, dogs, and possums. The "hoop" that was inserted into the bones is made from Willow Branches. Skulls from a Raccoon and a Beaver were used to create a "Ouroboros Snake" look. Deer sinew was used for the webbing and teeth, feathers, and acrylic beads were added to the webbing. Various bones, beads and feathers were used for the hanging components.

This was a commissioned sculpture, however the buyer backed out after it's completion. The concept is a "Dream Catcher" that would capture and destroy nightmares. I wanted to make a unique Nightmare Catcher, so I used the idea of the Ouroboros Snake (The Snake Eating It's Tail) for the hoop and the addition of teeth to the webbing serves as a point of destruction of Nightmares.

This Necrosculpture was featured at the Art Soiree art show.

It is not for sale. It is now in a private art collection.
