Gargoyle
|
|
This piece was created in 1998-1999. Its dimensions are 3 feet by 2 feet. It is made out of various animal bones, nails, piece of a tree branch that was struck by lightning and "peeled off" from the tree, and moss. I found this wonderful piece of wood while walking in a forest area one day. I took it home and wanted to use it for a sculpture. The shape of the wood resembled a wing, so I took that idea and thought about creating a winged animal. I started laying out bones and when I was finished, the Gargoyle manifested. I have received many comments from people who attended the viewing of this sculpture and they said that they feel "weirded out" by this sculpture. Need I say more? This Necrosculpture was featured in the Take It to the Bank art show, the Amuse Les Sens art show, and the Forecastle 2005 art show. A print of this Necrosculpture is available on the merchandise page. It is for sale. E-mail Owen Leitsch about the price. Click on the thumbnails to see the bigger image. |
