This piece was created in 1998. Its dimensions are 10 inches by 5 inches. It is made out of a sparrow skeleton, bark from a tree, nails to support the wings, a robin's egg, and a glass dome to protect it. I had a sparrow skeleton in my collection and I wanted to display it in some manner. I couldn't figure out how I wanted to display it, and then one day, I found a robin's egg. This egg apparently fell from a nest, it was cracked open and the contents were still inside! I looked closely at the contents, and I discovered that there was still an embryo inside! I immediately had an idea; I would make the skeleton look like it was going to devour the embryo. This Necrosculpture was featured at the Horror Art Expo art show. It is not for sale. This item was sold the day after the show to a private collector. I really enjoyed creating this piece; I almost hated to sell it. However, I saw that the buyer loved the piece as much as I did, so I sold it to him. Click on the thumbnails to see the bigger image. |
